Just as a woman is the heart of a Jewish household we are the heart of Congregation Or Ami.  We actively participate in the religious, social and education aspects of our synagogue.  Our chapter is a member of the Women's League of Conservative Judaism, a national org anization of sisterhoods affiliated with the Jewish Theological Seminary..

Membership dues are $36.00 for the year,   Please fill out a Membership/Interest Survey or Renewal Form and send it in with your check.

KITCHEN.
Our members are proud to be in charge of the maintenance and operation of our kosher kitchen.  We prepare the weekly kiddush luncheons as well as special holiday and simcha events.  We welcome volunteers to help prepare the kiddush set up on Thursday mornings as well as on shabbat.

Please consider sponsoring a kiddush luncheon in memory of a loved one, to honor a birthday, anniversary or special occasion. You can review the Or Ami Catering Menu for options and contact Terry Schlanger at (281) 507-0939 or email her to set up a date and arrange the menu.

December 14  Hanukkah Build-A-Bear for Aishel House

2011 Hanukkah Build-A-Bear

A HUGE thank you to everyone who came out to celebrate hanukkah with Congregation Or Ami's Sisterhood at Build-A-Bear in Memorial City Mall. We had a wonderful time creating adorable dolls for children at Aishel House at the Houston Medical Center.  This year we had such a wonderful turnout that some of the dolls were also donated to Texas Children's Hospital Westside.
Thank you to Elaine Gladstone, Judy Karonika, Rita Marshall, Jean Quiat and Joan Sarah-Foster for delivering the lovey's to Rabbi Schmulder at Aishel House on Friday.

October 15   Pasta in the Hut

2011 Pasta in the Hut

Congregation Or Ami Sisterhood celebrated Sukkot with a delicious dinner prepared by Helena Vonville.  It was a beautiful night to enjoy a wonderful meal with friends.  We decorated the sukkah after Rabbi Estes led the havdallah service.  We finished off the evening with a scrumptious Italian cream cake.  Thank you Helena, Judy, Elaine H. and Joan for an excellent program.

March 13  Hamentashen Bake-A-Thon

Thank you to all the wonderful bakers who showed up at Or Ami to prepare the delicious cookies for Purim.  We made over 500 cookies!  Almond, poppy seed, prune, apricot, raspberry and chocolate!

Hamentoshen Bake-A-Thon

February 10

Marcie Baker Turrin of Ship Shape Houston gave our Sisterhood a dynamic presentation showing how to organize our houses and our lives.  Her years of expertise motivated us all to better our personal space.
