In 1983, Rabbi Osadchey began a 13 year tenure at "Congregation Brith
Shalom" in Houston during which time he established new and innovative
programs and involved the congregation in matters concerning Israel,
Soviet Jewry, AIDS, the homeless, and the environment. He subsequently
formed "Congregation Or Hadash" which merged with "Congregation Beth Am"
in 2001 to form "Congregation Or Ami".
Rabbi Osadchey remains a community activist with a passion for interfaith,
racial, healthcare, poverty and other social justice issues. He is a senior
fellow of the "American Leadership Forum" and a past president of "Interfaith
Ministries for Greater Houston", the "Houston Rabbinical Association", and
the Texas "Kallah of Rabbis".
Rabbi Osadchey was born in Los Angeles, CA and is a graduate of the "Los Angeles
Hebrew High School", the "University of California at Berkeley" with majors in
Religious Studies and Political Science, and "Hebrew Union College" from which
he was ordained in New York in 1977.
Married to Bobbie Osadchey in 2000, they have six children- Chris, Noel and Patrick,
Jake, Miriam, Benjamin, and Ilana- and 5 grandchildren- Noah, Avery, Jonah, Grant,
and Piper.

Meet the Rabbi
Rabbi Shaul Osadchey is the founding Rabbi of "Congregation Or Ami" and
has served the Houston Jewish community since 1979 when he arrived to
establish the "Houston Hillel Foundation" at the "University of Houston"
and "Rice University".
