It is with a great sense of sadness that I assume the Presidency of Congregation
Or Ami upon the death of Bob Strudler.
I served as Bob’s Vice President and during his too short tenure I observed,
listened and learned from him. I hope to carry these lessons learned and his
unwavering commitment to Or Ami forward in pursuit of our goals as the finest
Conservative synagogue in Houston.
Our strength has always been our people. Now, in this time of sorrow for us as
a congregation, let us celebrate the life of Bob Strudler as he would have wanted;
by carrying the ideals of our congregation forward so we truly are "The Light of My
People." Bob would have expected us to move on. His pursuit of excellence was never
ending. His spirit of tikkun olam drove him as a person. As I, with the Rabbi
and the Board of Trustees, continue the work of Or Ami, we will do so with God and
Bob guiding us.
If a life well lived is leaving the world a better place, then Bob Strudler lived
the life of a hundred people.
All of our heartfelt thoughts and prayers go out to Ruth, Seth, Keith and CJ.
